Electrical Design Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

Create highly accurate, cost effective and manufactural designs of distribution transformers according to customer specifications; necessary for the Marketing department to prepare quotations and secure orders. Select designs that are optimum for customers while maximizing profit and order intake. Provide technical assistance to the Marketing Department and customers on as needed basis. Review customer specifications and part requirements and verify against quoted design. Verify electrical design manufacturability.

  •  Create designs of distribution transformers according to customer specifications, industry standards and company design practices using existing software tools.
  •  Provide technical support to Marketing Department, Manufacturing and customers concerning technical issues, transformers, and company’s manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards (ANSI/IEEE/NEMA/CSA/CEA/IEC).
  •  Contact customers to clarify requirements.
  •  Provide suggestions for improvement of product, processes or cost reductions.
  •  Analyze design program output to select most cost effective design solution.
  •  Create, choose, or modify electrical connection diagrams and winding instructions
  •  Evaluate electrical parameters based upon design standards and provide guidance to manufacturing and mechanical engineering

Basic Requirements: 

  •  Possesses technical background in electrical design theory.
  •  Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or combination of education in mechanical engineering and 2 years electrical design experience.
  •  Must possess high degree of reading comprehension.
  •  Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate with varying levels of employees.
