Field Service Supervisor

Position: Field Service Supervisor

Department: Service

Primary Objective of Position:

Field Service Supervisor is responsible to provide leadership and direction to field service personnel. This includes scheduling and training field service employees (FSE) and engineers, and contributing to the development of the service and aftermarket business of the company.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Provides daily guidance, direction, and performance feedback to field service team; ensuring a high-level of performance is achieved based on performance goals.
  • Responsible for skill and performance enhancement programs; keeping field service personnel technically sound and their skills updated.
  • Effectively meet customer requirements and service goals; managing work assignments and resource allocation for field work.
  • Manages training, background checks, and drug screens for FSE’s as required for site access.
  • Develops standard procedures to ensure high-level of service experience to customers.
  • Manages and monitors department metrics and expenses; within the allotted budget, timely and accurate field service report billing.
  • Ensures cash flow; timely invoicing progress, milestone payments and collection.
  • Partners with admin group; service order creation, PO processing, and final billing requests to generate ZSGI orders when warranty issues are identified.
  • Manages customer queries and resolves issues; coordination with relevant departments.
  • Supports inside sales with cost break downs for service, technical specification reviews, and generating service scopes.
  • Responsible for regular feedback; to Electric Machinery Company regarding Customer Satisfaction of field service work.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
  • Domestic and international customer and vendor travel of up to 25%.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Four (4) year degree Engineering, Project Management, Business discipline, or other relevant field or equivalent work experience or three (3) plus years of previous field service experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with a preference for Engineered to Order product.
  • Minimum of two (2) plus years of previous supervisory experience; excellent leadership skills and decision-making abilities required.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear, ISO9001, CE Marking, OSHA, and other Safety regulations/compliance preferred.
  • Proficient MS Suite programs, and demonstrated knowledge and experience with SAP required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. Ability to draft documents with no supervision.
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) with internal customers, and external customers, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities; meeting business and department goals.
  • Demonstrates a high-degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the internal and external customers.
  • Ability to independently prioritize; work efforts, meet tight deadlines, and effectively maintain schedules and milestones.

Physical Requirements:

  • Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Routinely ascends/descends ladders and stairs.
  • Occasionally works at heights or on platforms.
  • Occasionally positions self in various works spaces, including low, tight or confined spaces.
  • Routinely remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally uses repetitive motions including the wrists, hands or fingers to operate computers, machinery or tools.
  • Routinely moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks.
  • Requires climbing stairs and moving over, around and about shop machinery.
