WEG is hiring a Staff Accountant.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of accounting records, and performing a variety of accounting duties. This position plays an important role in the month-end closing process, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Perform detailed account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts, documents, and reports
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary schedules and documentation
- Assist with the preparation of various financial statements and reports
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to management
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Monitor budget vs. actual performance and prepare reports on budget variances
- Perform remote bank deposits
- Administer the Motus car allowance program
- Work with WEG Business Services (WBS) to accomplish assigned tasks and responsibilities
- Assist in entering accounts payable transactions
- Perform new vendor setup verification
- Upload payroll data to the general ledger monthly
- Analyze and prepare employee reimbursements and deductions data for payroll processing
- Calculate bi-weekly payroll wage accrual monthly
- Maintain accuracy of prepaid expenses, including insurance, tradeshows, etc.
- Process invoicing of insurance, legal, and other administrative charges to US business units
- Assist with the proper recording of all fixed asset transactions, including disposals
- Assist in preparing account details for federal and state income tax filings
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting policies
- Ensure adherence to all company accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, supporting the company's governance framework
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency
- Participate in accounting projects, such as system implementations, automation initiatives, or process reengineering
- Maintain key financial metrics and report them to management
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Knowledge/Training:
- Good computer and technical skills, including MS Office applications and proficiency with Excel
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS financial accounting principles and practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-accounting personnel in a clear manner
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task, use independent judgment, and apply sound decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet financial reporting deadlines
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment
- Minimum of 1 year of SAP experience
